MDI Softball Team Faces Tough Loss Against Washington Academy

The MDI Softball Team fell to Washington Academy 8-2 in East Machias, on Friday, May 8th.

Ella Watson was in the circle for the Trojans. She allowed 6 hits and 8 runs, although just 2 were earned as she struck out 9 and walked 4.

Bella Cirone picked up the win for the Raiders. She allowed 6 hits and 2 runs, 1 of which was earned as she struck out 16 and walked just 1.

Watson was 2-4 for Ellsworth with a triple from the leadoff spot. Cate Brown had a pair of hits, including a double and drove in a run. Alahna Terry and Grace Sinclair each had a single.

MDI committed 6 errors in the field.

Grace Howard and Riley Shimabukuro each had 2 hits and a run batted in for the Raiders. Lily Hennessey had a single and run batted in and Bella Cirone had a single.

Hayden Look, Hennessey and Violet Dineen each had a stolen base for Washington Academy.

MDI is now 3-3. They host Ellsworth on Monday, May 11th at 4:30 p.m.

Washington Academy is now 8-0. They will travel to Blue Hill to play GSA on Monday, May 11th at 4:30 p.m.
