On Senior Recognition Day in Bar Harbor, the MDI Softball Team nipped Ellsworth 3-2 in the last regular season game for both teams.

The game was scoreless through 5.5 innings until Ruby Brown hit a 3 run homer for MDI to give them a 3-0 lead. in that inning  Lindsey McEachern singled and  Maddie Neale singled advancing McEachern to 3rd. With runners on 1st and 3rd Brown homered to left field.

But Ellsworth would score 2 runs in the top of the 7th. Kayla Duhaime singled to left. Trinity Montigny bunted, and reached 1st, moving Duhaime to 2nd. Kenzie Chipman singled, loading the bases. Sara Stevens singled, scoring Duhaime, and keeping the bases loaded. Isabelle Perry hit a sacrifice fly, which allowed Montigny to score. But MDI's pitcher then proceeded to get a strike out and a fly out to end the game and preserve MDI's victory.

McEachern pitched a complete game for MDI, throwing 7 innings and striking out 10. She didn't walk a batter and allowed 6 hits.

Kenzie Chipman threw a complete game for Ellsworth, striking out 8 and allowing just 5 hits. She didn't walk a batter.

Lily Cook had a double and single for MDI. McEachern and Neale each had a single with Brown delivering the big blow, a homer.

For Ellsworth Trinity Montigny had 2 singles, Shea, Duhamime, Chipman and Stevens each had a single.

MDI finishes the regular season in 8th place with a 8-8 record. They will host Erskine Academy, the 9th seed, with a 9-7 record in a prelim game.

Ellsworth finishes the regular season in 10th place with a 10-6 record and will travel to Gardiner to play the 7th seed Gardiner Tigers with an 11-5 record in a prelim game
