The MDI Trojans took an unexpected trip to Belfast on Wednesday, May 15th as the Bar Harbor field was unplayable, but the Softball Team showed no effects of the bus trip, shutting out the Belfast Lions 9-0.

MDI scored 1 run in the top of the 4th and added 4 runs each in the 5th and 6th innings.

Lindsey McEachern pitched a gem for MDI, limiting the Lions to just 1 hit, while striking out 11 and walking just 1. She faced just 24 batters.

Maddie Neale led the Trojans at the plate, going 3-4 with 2 doubles. Hannah Chamberlain and Hannah Hanscom each had 2 singles. Lily Cook, Ruby and Olivia Gray each had a single as the Trojans banged out 10 hits. Neale and Leah Carroll each stole a base.

Brooke Richards had Belfast's lone hit, a double.

Gia Davila started for Belfast in the circle, going 4 inning, allowing 4 hits and 3 runs, striking out 9 and walking 1. Richards pitched the final 3 innings, allowing 6 hits and 6 runs, striking out 1 and walking 2.

MDI is 6-5 and will play at Foxcroft Academy on Thursday, May 16th at 4:30

Belfast is 3-7 and plays host to Medomak Valley on Friday, May 17th
