How MDI High School Show Choir Captivated State Championship Fans

MDI High School's Show Choir won the Gold at the Show Choir State Championships at Stearns High School on Saturday, March 28th.

MDIHS Show Choir won GOLD with nearly perfect scores at the 2026 State Show Choir Festival in Millinocket on Saturday with their performance of Illuminare." The Cast and choreographers Ruby DeMuro, Sage Way and Delilah Damon Dong also earned the Outstanding Choreography award! Congratulations to the cast, pit and crew of MDIHS's Show Choir!

Judges highlighted the beauty, difficulty, timbre and intonation of the vocals, the difficulty, expressiveness and drama of the choreography, student commitment to the drama, and how much they appreciated that our production created a world and told a story from beginning to end.
I'm so proud of the kids; they worked so hard to create and perform this production. They crafted the story, choreographed it, led rehearsals, costumed, designed and implemented hair and make-up, helped construct, maintain, paint and transport the set. Students were involved at a granular level, and completely took responsibility of every detail. I believe it was a very moving and rewarding experience!
