MDI Runs Past Washington Academy 66-50
The MDI Trojans Boys Basketball Team used a strong 2nd Quarter, outscoring Washington Academy 25-8, en route to a 66-50 victory over Washington Academy in East Machias on Tuesday, December 18th.
Washington Academy jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the 1st Quarter before MDI came back, but at the end of the 1st Quarter the Raiders had a 12-10 lead. Jose Blanco had 5 points for Washington Academy with a 3-pointer. Andon Woods had a 3-pointer and Jax Lin and Joshua Ketchen each had 2 points. For MDI Derek Collin had 4 points, Charlie Parker had a 3-pointer and Drew Shea had 2 points. Eli Parady was 1-2 from the free throe line.
In the 2nd Quarter the Trojans got it together, cutting down on the turnovers and ran the floor. Collin had 10 points to lead MDI. Drew Shea had 9 points with a 3-pointer. Kyle Nicholson had a 3-pointer and Parady had 2 points. Erik Merchant was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Washington Academy Ketchen and Wood each had a 3-pointer and Lin had 2 points. At the end of the 1st Half MDI was up 35-20.
In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Washington Academy 15-13 to extend their lead to 17 points, 50-33 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Collin had 8 points for the Trojans with a 3-pointer. Parady, Merchant and Duley each had 2 points and Parker was 1-2 from the free throw line. For the Raiders Blanco had 5 points with a 3-pointer, Lin and Cecil Gray 4 points each.
In the 4th Quarter Duley had 7 points and ended the night a perfect 7-7 from the free throw line for the Trojans. Collin had 5 points, Shea 2 points and Merchant 2 points. For the Raiders Lin had 11 points with 2 3's, Blanco 5 points with a 3-pointer and Donald Socotomah was 1-2 from the free throw line.
MDI was led by Derek Collin with a game high 27 points. Drew Shea had 13 points and Brett Duley 9 points. The Trojans were 18-28 from the free throw line.
Washington Academy was led by Jax Lin with 19 points and Jose Blanco with 15 points. The Raiders were 8-14 from the free throw line.
MDI, now 3-1 will play host to John Bapst on Saturday, December 22nd at 3:30PM
Washington Academy, 1-3 plays host to Narraguagus on Wednesday December 19th at 6:30PM
