MDI Runs Past Red Riots In 2nd Half Win 63-51 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Trojans Boys Basketball Team used a strong 2nd half, scoring 42 points to beat the Orono Red Riots 63-51 on Tuesday, January 15th in Bar Harbor.

Orono took a  13-12 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter, scoring the last 9 points after MDI had jumped out to a 12-4 lead. Connor Robertson had 5 points with a 3-pointer. Javier Santiago had a 3-pointer, Zack Dill 2 points and Jason Desisto was 1-2 from the free throw line. For MDI Derek Collin had 7 points, Drew Shea a 3-pointer and Eli Parady 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter Orono outscored MDI 13-9 to take a 26-21 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Sam Martin had 6 points for Orono, all in the paint and off the glass. Desisto was 3-4 from the free throw line and Dill and Shorette had 2 points each. MDI's Derek Collin scored all of MDI's 9 points including a 3-pointer.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI outscored Orono 20-9, going on a 10-2 run to start the Quarter. MDI led 41-35 at the end of the Quarter. Drew Shea had 7 points with a 3-pointer. Brett Duley had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Parady and Steven Pierce each had 2 points. For Orono Shorette had a 3-pointer and Martin, Dill and Desisto 2 points each.

In the 4th Quarter MDI outscored Orono 22-16. Shea had 8 points for MDI, Collin and Parady had 6 points each and Pierce had 2 points. For Orono Desisto had 10 points with 2 3's, and Marin, Robertson and Shorette 2 points each.

MDI was led by Derek Collin with a game high 26 points. Drew Shea had 18 points and Eli Parady had 10 points. The Trojans were 5-6 from the free throw line.

Orono was led by Jason Desisto with 16 points while Sam Martin had 10 points. The Red Riots were 8-11 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 8-2 and will play at Hermon on Friday night, January 18th at 7PM.

Orono is 6-5 and plays at Caribou on Saturday, January 19th at 4:30PM
