MDI High School Placed on Brief Lockdown Friday Afternoon [UPDATED]
MDI High School was placed on a brief lockdown on Friday afternoon, February 28th.
AOS 91 Superintendent Mike Zboray sent out the following message Friday
This afternoon, following the close of school, an emergency alarm went off at MDIHS. Following our protocols, the school went into a lockdown and notified law enforcement. A thorough walk through of the building by law enforcement determined there was no threat or danger to anyone in the building and gave the all clear for our after school activities to continue.
The safety of all our students, staff, community, and visitors remains our greatest priority. We want to assure you we implemented our safety protocols and will continue to review these protocols to assure they are implemented swiftly and efficiently to protect our students, staff, and community.
Sargent Sundberg issued the following press release Friday afternoon
Officers from the Bar Harbor Mount Desert Police Department responded to an alarm at the Mount Desert Island High School shortly before 3 pm. We were advised the school had entered into lockdown. Officers immediately entered the school and cleared the building. There were no threats located in the school and the lockdown was cleared. We were assisted by the National Park Service..
The Show Choir Festival is continuing, but the MDI Show Choirs (High School and Conners-Emerson) will only be performing as the Ellsworth High School and Middle School decided to head back to Ellsworth after being in the lockdown.
