MDI High School Musical Notes

There are great things happening at MDI High School in the Music Department! Thanks to Michael Remy for the information!

MDIHS winter concert is on Tuesday, December 18, at 6:30pm in the Higgins-Demas Theater. It will feature several small chamber ensembles, the concert chorus, the string orchestra and the symphonic band. Those interested in getting a preview of MDIHS jazz can come at 6pm and get a sneak preview of what we've been working on thus far.

MDI High School had 10 musicians accepted into the MMEA Jazz All State groups out of the 29 that auditioned. This is the largest representation in the state!  Although not sure on the exact statistic, Mr. Remy thinks this is the 4th year in a row of highest representation. Those students and their designated ensembles are: Alain Zhang (jazz band), Irene Choi (jazz band), Molly Collins (jazz band), Alec Fisichella (honors jazz band), Adam Christianson (honors jazz band), Alex Eason (SATB chorus), Finn Hansbury (SATB chorus), Carolyn Graber (SATB chorus), Ivy Sanborn (SSAA chorus), Bella Walke (SSAA chorus). These students will participate in the MMEA Jazz All State Festival in South Portland from January 3-5, 2019, with a culminating concert on the evening of January 5.

MDI High School had 17 musicians accepted into the MMEA Classical All State groups out of the 34 that auditioned. Those students and their designated ensembles are: Alain Zhang (band), Carolyn Graber (band), Alec Fisichella (band), Quentin Pileggi (orchestra), Dani LeDuc (orchestra), Jane Pope (orchestra), Cate Pope (orchestra), Alex Eason (SATB chorus), Ashley Graves (SATB chorus), Finn Hansbury (SATB chorus), Winslow Jeffery (SATB chorus), Oriahnna Kelley (SATB chorus), Sarah Knox (SATB chorus), Claire Shaw (SATB chorus), Moxie McBreairty (SSAA chorus), Ivy Sanborn (SSAA chorus), Bella Walke (SSAA chorus). These students will participate in the MMEA Classical All State Festival at University of Maine- Orono from May 16-18, with a culminating concert on the evening of May 18.
