MDI Boys Basketball Scores Narrow Win Against Hampden Academy

The MDI Boys Basketball Team beat a deliberate Hampden Academy Team 57-54 on Thursday, January 15th at Bernard Parady Gymnasium, as Hampden Academy held MDI to a season-low 57 points. A resilient Trojans outscored the Broncos 20-16 in the 4th Quarter for the win.

MDI led 13-9 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 31-27 at the Half. The Broncos led 38-37 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

MDI was led by James Witham with 16 points, including a 3-pointer. Kenneth Stillwell had an unofficial double-double finishing with 15 points, including a 3-pointer and double digit rebounds in the 2nd Half. Dylan Stoll had 11 points and Lincoln Gray had 10 points with a 3-pointer. Preston Tripp had 5 points with a 3-pointer. MDI was 11-18 from the free throw line.

Hampden Academy was led by Jacob Kelly who had 21 points, including 10 points int he 2nd Quarter. He had a pair of 3-pointers. Miles Shain had 13 points with a 3-pointer. Mson Studley had a pair of 3's. Sawyer Worcester and Ryan McAlpine each had a 3-pointer. The Broncos were 1-1 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 11-1 and will travel to East Machias on Saturday, January 17th to play Washington Academy at 2:30 p.m.

Hampden Academy is now 5-6. They will travel to Farmington to play Mt. Blue on Friday, January 16th at 6:30 p.m.
