MDI Girls Top Ellsworth 38-30
The Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team pulled within a basket in the 4th Quarter before MDI pulled away to come away with a 38-30 victory at Katsiaficas Gymnasium in Ellsworth on Wednesday, January 22nd.
Ellsworth led 8-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter. Trinity Montigny and Sierra Andrews each had a 3-pointer for Ellsworth and Kylie Robidoux had 2 points for Ellsworth. For MDI Elena Alderman had a 3-pointer, Elizabeth Jones 2 points and Leah Carroll was 2-2 from the free throw line.
In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Ellsworth 12-5 to take a 19-13 lead at the end of the 1st Half. For MDI Elizabeth Jones had 7 points, while Elena Alderman had another 3-pointer and Rachelle Swanson added 2 points. For the Eagles Casey Carter had a 3-pointer and Autumn Paul had 2 points.
In the 3rd Quarter MDI outpaced Ellsworth 8-5 to increase their lead to 27-18 in the 3rd Quarter. Olivia Gray had 5 points for the Trojans with a 3-pointer while Rachelle Swanson had 3 points. For the Eagles Trinity Montigny hit her 2nd 3-pointer and Sara Shea and Kylie Robidoux were each 1-2 from the free throw line.
In the 4th Quarter Morgan Clifford had 5 points with a 3-pointer for Ellsworth. Montigny had 3 points and Jocelyn Jordan and Sierra Andrews each had 2 points. For MDI Leah Carroll had 6 points, Elena Alderman her 3rd 3-pointer of the night and Elizabeth Jones 2 points.
MDI was led by Elizabeth Jones with 11 points wile Elena Alderman had 9 points. The Trojans were 8-16 from the free throw line.
Ellsworth was led by Trinity Montigny had 9 points while Morgan Clifford and Sierra Andrews each had 5 points. The Eagles were 5-12 from the free throw line.
MDI is now 10-4 and will play host to Presque Isle on Friday, January 24th at 6:30 in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device
Ellsworth is 7-5 and will play host to Caribou on Friday, January 24th at 6 p.m. That game will be livestreamed on WHOU and on the Ellsworth Athletic Facebook Page.
