MDI Girls Rally to Beat Old Town 54-49[PHOTOS]

The MDI Trojans Girls Basketball Team trailed throughout most of the first 3 Quarters, but rallied in the 4th Quarter to beat the Old Town Coyotes 54-49 at Mackenzie Gymnasium in Old Town on Wednesday, January 23rd.

Old Town jumped out to a 17-9 in the 1st Quarter. Lexi Thibodeau had 10 points while Hannah Richards had 5 points including a 3-pointer. Madelynn Emerson had 2 points for the Coyotes. For MDI Maddy Candage had 5 points, Julia Watras 2 points and Alexis Clarito and Olivia Gray 1 point each.

MDI cut Old Town's lead to 6 points in the 2nd Quarter, outscoring Old Town 12-10 to make the score 27-21 at the end of the 1st Half. Candage had 6 points for MDI and Elizabeth Jones provided a huge spark for the Trojans off the bench, scoring 6 points and ripping down some big offensive rebounds for MDI. For Old Town Thibodeau had 6 points and Olivia Albert and Claudia Damboise had 2 points each.

MDI cut Old Town's lead to 2 points in the 3rd Quarter, as they outscored the Coyotes 13-9. The Coyotes led 36-34 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Candage had 4 points and Hannah Chamberlain had a 3-pointer. Watras was 3-3 from the free throw line and Rachelle Swanson added 3 points. For Old Town Thibodeau had 4 points and Emerson and Alivia Coulombe each had 2 points while Hannah Richards was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI went 9-17 from the free throw line in the 4th Quarter scoring 20 points. Alexis Clarito had 8 points with a 3-pointer and was 3-4 from the free throw line. Hannah Chamberlain sank 2 3's and Julia Watras was 5-10 from the free throw line. Rachelle Swanson was 1-2 from the free throw line.

Hannah Richardson had 5 points with a 3-pointer before fouling out. Thibodeau had 4 points and Damboise had 4 points for the Coyotes.

MDI was led by Maddy Candage with 15 points while Julia Watras had 10 points. Alexis Clarito and Hannah Chamberlain had 9 points each. The Trojans were 16-30 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Lexi Thibodeau with a game high 24 points while Hannah Richards had 11 points. Old Town was 9-11 fro the free throw line

MDI is now 10-2 and will play at Caribou on Friday, January 25th at 6PM. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 5:45.

Old Town is 10-4 and plays host to Hermon on Friday, January 25th at 7PM.
