MDI Girls Open the Season with a 69-45 Win Over Washington Academy [STATS/PHOTOS]

The MDI Girls finally opened the season, 12 nights after the season began, with a 69-45 win over Washington Academy in Bernard Parady Gymnasium on Tuesday, December 17th.

The game was tied 9-9 at the end of the 1st Quarter. MDI outscored Washington Academy 23-11 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 32-20 lead at the end of the 1st Half. The Trojans led 48-36 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

MDI was paced by Lexi Tozier with 17 points. Lily Norwood had 12 points and Mia Shaw 10 points. The Trojans drained 9 3-pointers in the game. Addy Dowsland, Calleigh Trenholm and Norwood each had 2 3-pointers. Mia Shaw and Lilli Hanf and Ella Watson each had a 3-pointer. MDI was 8-14 from the free throw line. Lilli Hanf, Ella Watson, Addy Dowsland and Blake Thieken all scored their 1st varsity points.

Washington Academy was led by Grace Howard with 14 points. Reese Crossman had 7 points. The Raiders had 4 3-pointers. Howard had 2 3's and Abigail Maker and Taylor MacDonald each had a 3-pointer. Washington Academy was 11-19 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 1-0. They will host Presque Isle on Friday night, December 20th at 6 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Washington Academy is 2-2. They will host Old Town on Thursday, December 19th at 7 p.m.
