MDI Girls Hold Off Oceanside 44-38 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team trailed Oceanside11-5 after the end of the 1st Quarter but came back and held off the Mariners, winning 44-38 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Saturday, January 5th to remain unbeaten on the season.

Oceanside led 11-5 in the 1st Quarter. For the Mariners Sara Dorr had 4 points and Raechel Joyce, Grace Woodman and Abby Veilleux each had 2 points while Molly Gould was 1-2 from the free throw line. For MDI Hannah Chamberlain had a 3-pointre and Maddy Candage 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Oceanside 15-10 to cut the Mariners' lead to 1 point 21-20 at the end of the 1st Half. In the 2nd Quarter Chamberlain had 2 more 3-pointers for MDI for 6 points, Olivia Gray had 4 points with a 3-pointer, Alexis Clarito had a 3-pointer and Candage had 2 points. For Oceanside Woodman had 2 3's for 6 points, and Gould had 4 points.

At the end of the 3rd Quarter the game was tied 35-35. Chamberlain had 8 points for the Trojans with 2 more 3's. Rachelle Swanson had 4 points and Candage had a 3-pointer. For the Mariners, Veilleux had 6 points, Joyce a 3-pointer, Hope Butler 3 points and Gould was 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter MDI held Oceanside to just 3 points, while scoring 9. For the Trojans Candage had 4 points, Julia Watras was 4-7 from the free throw line and Swanson was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Oceanside Joyce had 2 points and Butler was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Hannah Chamberlain with a game high 17 points with 5 3's. Candage had 11 points. MDI was 6-21 from the free throw line.

Oceanside was led by Grace Woodman and Abby Veilleux with 8 points each. The Mariners were 5-12 from the free throw line.
