MDI Girls Flex Their Defensive Muscles Beat Caribou 43-16

The MDI Girls Basketball Team remained undefeated on the season, beating the Caribou Vikings 43-16 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Thursday, December 27th.

MDI jumped out to a 8-5 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Hannah Chamberlain scored MDI's first basket, with a 3-pointer, Maddy Candage had 3 points and Julia Watras 2 points for the Trojans in the 1st Quarter. For Caribou Taylor Skidgel had a 3-pointer and Abbi Robbins had 2 points.

MDI outscored Caribou 12-4 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 20-9 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Alexis Clarito had 2 3's, Hannah Chamberlain another 3-pointer, Candage 2 points and Elizabeth Jones was 1-2 from the free throw line. For the Vikings Robbins had 2 points, Skidgel 1 point and Booke Moir 1 point.

MDI's defense limited Caribou to 4 points in the 3rd Quarter while their offense scored 8 to take a 28-13 lead at the end of the 3rd quarter. Chamberlain had 2 3's and Leah Carroll had 2 points for the Trojans. For the Vikings Taylor LaBreck had 3 points and Moir 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter MDI limited Caribou to just 3 points, while scoring 15 points. For MDI Candage had 4 points, Chamberlain another 3-pointer, Carroll, Jones and Watras each had 2 points. Zoe Parker scored her first varsity points with 20.5 seconds remaining, finishing with 2 points. Caribou's lone points came on a 3-pointer by Renee Stubbs.

MDI was led by Hannah Chamberlain with 15 points, on 5 3's. Maddy Candage finished with 9 points. MDI was 6-13 from the free throw line.

Caribou was led by Abbi Robbins and Taylor Skidgel with 4 points each. The Vikings were 6-10 from the free throw line.

MDI now 6-0 will play host to Presque Isle on Friday, December 28th at 1 PM with the game being broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on any Alexa enabled device and our free downloadable APP
