MDI Girls Fall to Old Town 54-42 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team fell to the Old Town Coyotes on Tuesday night, January 14th at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor as the Coyotes went 17-29 from the free throw line.

Old Town jumped out to a 10-7 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Madelyn Emerson had a 3-pointer for Old Town, Hannah Richards had 3 points and Lexi Thibodeau and Claudia Damboise each had 2 points. For MDI Rachelle Swanson had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Elena Alderman had 2 points.

Old Town outscored MDI 11-7 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 21-14 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Old Town received 3-pointers from Madelyn Arsenault and Emerson while Richards had 3 points and Sydney Loring had 2 points.For MDI Olivia Gray had a 3-pointer and Swanson and Elizabeth Jones each chipped in 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI cut the lead to 4 points 34-40. Leah Carroll had 5 points for MDI, Jones 4 points. Olivia Gray hit another 3-pointer and Alderman and Swanson each had 2 points. For the Cooyotes Emerson had 2 3-pointers, Richards was 3-4 from the free throw line and Thibodeau and Loring each has 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter MDI was forced to foul, and the Coyotes went 12-20 from the line. Richards had 9 points, Thibodeau 7 points, Loring 3 points and Emerson 1 point. For MDI Carroll had 6 points, Jones 2 points and Gray and Swanson each had a point.

MDI was led by Leah Carroll with 13 points while Rachelle Swanson had 10 points. MDI was 3-10 from the free throw line

Old Town had 3 players in double figures. Hannah Richards had 18 points, Madelyn Emerson 13 points and Lexi Thibodeau 11 points.

MDI is now 8-4 and is scheduled to play at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Thursday, January 16th at 7 p.m. against John Bapst. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Old Town is 7-4 and is scheduled to play at Hermon on Thursday, January 16th at 7 p.m.
