MDI Girls Fall in Gold Ball Game 43-30 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team's magical season came to an end on Saturday, March 2nd, losing tot he Gray New Gloucester Patriots at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland in the State Class B Girls Championship Game.

Gray New Gloucester jumped out to a 16-8 in the 1st Quarter. Bri Jordan had 7 points for the Patriots with a 3-pointer. Jordan Grant had 5 points and Mikeala Ryan and Eliza Hotham had 2 points each. For MDI Julia Watras had 4 points, Hannah Chamberlain had a 3-pointer and Alexis Clarito was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Gray New Gloucester 10-7, and the Patriot's lead was cut to 5 points at the end of the 1st Half, 23-18. For the Trojans Chamberlain had 4 points, while Julia Watras and Olivia Gray each had 3 pointers. For Gray New Gloucester Jordan Grant had 3 points and Samantha Fortin and Alexa Thayer each had 2 points.

Gray New Gloucester led at the end of the 3rd Quarter 30-22. Jordan had 3 points and Thayer and Hotham each had 2 points. For MDI Watras and Maddy Candage each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, the Patriots were 7-10 from the free throw line. Jordan had 7 points, going 5-6 from the free throw line. Samantha Fortin, Jordan Grant and Alexa Thayer each had 2 points. For MDI Maddy Candage was 4-4 from the free throw line and Alexis Clarito and Rachelle Swanson each had 2 points.

MDI was led by Julia Watras with 9 points while Hannah Chamberlain had 7 points and Maddy Candage 6 points. The Trojans were 5-9 from the free throw line

Gray New Gloucester was led by Bri Jordan with a game high 17 points while Jordan Grant had 10 points. The Patriots were 12-17 from the free throw line

It was the last high school basketball game for Seniors Lindsey McEacher, Julia Watras, Alexis Clarito, Maddy Candage, Hannah Chamberlain and Zoe Parker.
