MDI Girls Double Up Caribou 68-34

The MDI Girls started their Aroostook County weekend on a good note, beating the Caribou Vikings 68-34 in Caribou on Friday, January 25th.

MDI jumped out to a 20-5 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Julia Watras and Alexis Clarito each had 8 points with 2 3's for the Trojans. Maddy Candage had 4 points. For Caribou Kimmy Susi had 3 points and Abbi Robbins had 2 points.

MDI made it 33-10 at the end of the 1st Half, outscoring Caribou 13-5 in the 2nd Quarter. Alexis Clarito drained her 3rd 3-paointer of the night and Lindsey McEachern, Julia Watras, Olivia Gray, Hannah Chamberlain and Elizabeth Jones all chipped in 2ith 2 points for MDI. For Caribou Renee Stubbs had a 3-pointer and Abbi Robbins was 2-3 from the free throw line.

MDI outscored Caribou 25-11 in the 3rd Quarter to take a 58-21 lead. Hannah Chamberlain sank 4 3's and added a 2-pointer for 14 points in the Quarter. Julia Watras had 5 points and Elizabeth Jones 3 points. Maddy Candage had 2 points while Clarito was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Caribou Alexis Rodriguez had 4 points, Sage Dubay a 3-pointer and Paige Espling and Taylor LaBreck 2 points each.

In the 4th Quarter Coach Brent Barker emptied his bench and Lexi Rich and Cassie Craig each had 4 points while Jones had 2 points for MDI. For Caribou Brianna Reece had 6 points with 2 3's, Dubay 4 points with a 3-pointer, Rodriguez was 2-3 from the free throw line and Stubbs was 1-2 from the free throw line

MDI was led by Hannah Chamberlain with 16 points while Julia Watras had 15 points and Alexis Clarito 12 points. MDI was 9-18 from the free throw line.

Caribou was led by Sage Dubay with 8 points. The Vikings were 9-15 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 11-2 and will play at Presque Isle on Saturday, January 26th at 1PM with the pregame starting at 12:45 on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Caribou is 2-13 and will play host to Ellsworth on Saturday, January 26th at 1PM.
