MDI Girls Defeat Washington Academy 83-14 [STATS/RECAP/PHOTOS]
The MDI Girls Basketball Team defeated Washington Academy 83-14 on a snowy night in Bar Harbor, Monday, December 18th. MDI sophomore Cassie Craig scored her first varsity points and was the leading scorer for the night, with 12 points.
The game was never in doubt as MDI went on a 15-1 run, and with 2 minutes left in the 1st Quarter, MDI was up 24-3. The 1st Quarter ended with MDI up 32-3. MDI hit 5 3-pointers in the 1st Quarter, 2 by Alexis Clarito and 1 each by Julia Watras, Rachelle Swanson and Hannah Chamberlain, with Swanson's going in from half court with no time left.
In the 2nd Quarter MDI increased their lead to 50-7 at the end of the 1st Half. Lindsey McEachern dropped 2 3-pointers to lead the scoring with 8 points.
In the 3rd Quarter, MDI received scoring from 8 players with Hannah Chamberlain draining MDI's 8th 3-pointer of the night.
MDI was led by Cassie Craig with 12 points. Lindsey McEachern had 10 points as did Lily Cook with Julia Watras having 9 points. Every Trojan with the exception of Julia Link was in the scorebook.
Washington Academy was led by Riley Fraser with 8 points and Brayli Dana-Sirles had a 3-pointer.
MDI, now 4-0 will travel to Bangor to take on John Bapst on Friday, December 22nd in their lone meeting of the year in a game that will be played at the Cross Insurance Center with the tipoff at 7PM. The pregame will begin at 6:45 with the game broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
Washington Academy, now 0-4 will play at Narraguagus on Wednesday, December 20th at 6:30 PM.
