MDI Girls Beat Hermon 56-47 [PHOTOS/STATS]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team beat Hermon in a hard-fought physical game, 56-47 on Monday night, December 30th at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor.

The teams combined to take 44 free throws.

MDI led 10-9 at the end of the 1st Quarter, but the game was tied 21-21 at the end of the 1st Half. MDI opened the 3rd Quarter on a 6-0 run and never looked back afterwards. They outscored Hermon 22-9 in the 3rd Quarter to take a 43-30 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

MDI was led by Lexi Tozier who had a game high 21 points. She went 9-14 from the free throw line. Lily Norwood, who normally is a perimeter shooter, was forced inside by the Hawk's defense. She ended up with 12 points, including just 1 3-pointer. Calleigh Trenholm had 9 points, with a 3-pointer. MDI was 16-26 from the free throw line.

Hermon was led by Madilynn Tracy who had 13 points, including a 3-pointer. Boroke Gallop had 11 points with a 3-pointer. Lila Ryan and Brooklyn Kelley each had a 3-pointer. The Hawks were 11-18 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 4-1. They will host Ellsworth in Bar Harbor on Thursday, January 2nd with the game tipping off at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame beginning at 6:40 p.m.

Hermon is now 3-3. They will travel to Old Town to play the Coyotes on Friday, January 3rd at 7 p.m.
