The MDI Girls Basketball Team beat the Hermon Hawks 50-41 in Hermon on Wednesday, January 22nd. The win snapped MDI's 3-game losing streak.

MDI led 10-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 18-17 at the end of the 1st Half. MDI outscored Hermon 17-12 in the 3rd Quarter to take a 35-29 lead.

MDI was led by Lexi Tozier who despite drawing double and triple teams finished with 17 points, going 7-10 from the free throw line. Ella Watson finished with 12 points including 2 key 3-pointers in the 2nd Half. Calleigh Trenholm had 8 points including a 3-pointer in the 3rd Quarter where she scored 6 points. Lilli Hanf had 7 points, all in the 4th Quarter. MDI finished the game going 11-16 from the free throw line.

Hermon was led by Brooke Gallop with 10 points. The Hawks hit 6 3-pointers in the game. Madilynn Tracy and Mya Lancaster each had 2 3-pointes. Lydia Muth and Gallop each had a 3-pointer. Hermon was 5-11 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 8-5. They travel up to Aroostook County to play Presque Isle on Friday, January 24th at 6 p.m. and then Caribou on Saturday, January 25th at 1 p.m. Both of those games will be broadcast on WDEA  AM 1370, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Hermon is now 5-8. They will host Foxcroft Academy on Saturday, January 25th at 3 p.m.
