MDI Girls Beat Foxcroft Academy 52-36 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team improved to 2-0 on the season, defeating the Foxcroft Academy Ponies 52-36 in Dover Foxcroft on Wednesday, December 12th.

Foxcroft Academy jumped out to a 10-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Julia Watras had 4 points and Lindsey McEachern and Maddy Candage each had 2 points for the Trojans. For the Ponies, Makenzie Beaudry had 4 points and Cassidy Marsh, Ava Rayfield and Jenna Anderson each chipped in 2 points.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Foxcroft Academy 16-7 to take a 24-17 lead at the end of the 1st Half. In the 2nd Quarter Watras scored 6 points, Candage 5 points with a 3-pointer and Rachelle Swanson scored a 3-pointer. Leah Carroll scored 2 points, her 1st varsity points. For the Ponies Ainsley Ade had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Beaudry had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI took an 11 point lead but the Ponies, cut the lead to 3, before MDI took a 35-29 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. In the 3rd Quarter, Watras had 9 points with a 3-pointer for MDI and Alexis Clarito chipped in with 2 points. For Foxcroft Academy Anderson had 4 points, Meghan Spooner a 3-pointer, Beaudry and Cailin Seavey 2 points and Ade 1 point.

In the 4th Quarter, MDI outscored Foxcroft Academy 17-7. Clarito had 4 points, Candage 4 points, Hannah Chamberlain 3 points, Watras and Carroll 2 points. Olivia Gray scored her first varsity points, going 1-2 from the free throw line. For the Ponies Seavey, Marsh and Beaudry each had 2 points and Ade was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI was led by Julia Watras with a game high 21 points. Maddy Candage had 11 points. The Trojans were 9-16 from the free throw line.

Foxcroft Academy was led by Makenzie Beaudry with 10 points. The Ponies were 6-12 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 2-0 and will play at Oceanside on Friday, December 14th with the tipoff at 6:30.

Foxcroft Academy is 0-2 and plays at Hermon on Wednesday, December 19th at 7PM
