MDI Girls Beat Ellsworth 43-37 [PHOTOS/STATS]

For the 1st times since February 18, 2022, the MDI Girls beat the Ellsworth Girls Basketball Team, winning on January 2, 2025, 43-37.

Ellsworth race out to a 7-0 lead before Coach Brent Barker called a timeout. The Trojans responded going on a 19-0 run to take a 19-7 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. MDI led 29-16 at the end of the 1st Half. The Trojans led 35-24 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. But in the 4th Quarter, Ellsworth was withing 3 points, before Lily Norwood sank 2 free throws to ice the game.

MDI was led by Lexi Tozier who finished with 16 points and 1 3-pointer. Lily Norwood had 10 points with 2 3-pointers. Mia Shaw, Lilli Hanf and Calleigh Trenholm each had a 3-pointer. MDI was 7-11 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth was led by Kaylee Bagley with 17 points and 2 3-pointers. Elizabeth Boles had 9points with a 3-pointer. Austyn Atherton had 8 points with 2 3-pointers. The Eagles were 4-8 from the free throw line.

Ellsworth suffered another injury when Elise Sargent was forced to leave the game with a knee injury.

MDI is now 5-1 and will travel to Old Town to play the Coyotes on Monday, January 6th at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 6:40 p.m.

Ellsworth is now 5-3 and will play at Washington Academy on Tuesday, January 7th at 6:30 p.m.
