MDI Girls Beat Caribou 58-49 [Box Score/Recap/Photos]

The MDI Trojans Girls Basketball Team got a measure of revenge against Caribou, beating the Vikings 58-49 on Friday night at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor.

The Trojans jumped out to a 12-11 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Hannah Chamberlain drained 2 3-pointers, for 6 points for MDI, while Julia Watras, Maddy Good and Maddy Candage each had 2 points. For Caribou, Searra Herbert had 5 points, Paige Espling 4 points and Gabrielle Marquis 2 points.

MDI outscored Caribou 16-13 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 28-24 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Good had 6 points, Watras 4 points, Emily Banks 3 points, Candage 2 points and Chamberlain 1 point. MDI went 8-10 from the free throw line in the 2nd Quarter. For Carbou Espling had 5 points and Marquis and Herbert each had a 3-pointer. Alexis Rodriguez chipped in with 2 points.

MDI outscored Caribou 18-11 in the 3rd Quarter to take a 46-35 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Good had 6 points, Chamberlain 4 points with her 3rd 3-pointer of the night, and Alexis Clarito and Julia Watras each had 4 points. For Caribou Herbert had 5 points, Taylor Labreck 4 points and Marquis 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter MDI went 6-10 from the free throw line and scored 12 points. Watras had 3 points, Banks, Clarito, Good and Candage each had 2 points and Chamberlain had 1 point. For Caribou Marquis had 10 points with a 3-pointer, Kimmy Susi had a 3-pointer and Labreck 1 point.

MDI had 3 players in double figures with Maddy Good scoring 16 points, Julia Watras 13 points and Hannah Chamberlain 12 points.The Trojans were 15-26 from the free throw line.

Caribou was led by Gabrielle Marquis with 17 points and Searra Herbert had 13 points. The Vikings were 9-21 from the free throw line.

MDI now 10-4 plays host to Presque Isle on Saturday, January 27th at 1 PM in a game that will be  broadcast on on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregames starting at 12:45.

Caribou, now 8-6 plays at Ellsworth at 11:30 AM on Saturday, January 27th.
