MDI Girls Basketball Team Starts Season With Big Win Over Washington Academy

The MDI Girl's Basketball Team opened the 2025-26 season with a dominant 74-31 win over Washington Academy on Friday, December 5th at Bernard Parady Gymnasium.

MDI started 3 freshman and 2 sophomores and raced out to a 24-6 lead at the end of the 1st Half and led 38-12 at the end of the 1st Half. The Trojans led 59-24 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.

MDI drained 11 3-pointers. Freshman Lily Collins and Avery Norwood each had 3 3's and sophomore Lilli Hanf had 3 3's. Freshman Claire Danielson and sophomore Ella Watson each had a 3-pointer.

The Raiders had 6 3-pointes. Grace Howard had 4 3's and Kaleigha Poor and Lylah Dinsmore each had a 3-pointer.

MDI was led by Avery Norwood with 18 points, while Lily Collins and Lily Hanf each had 13 points. Ella Watson finished with 9 points. MDI was 7-13 from the free throw line. Every available Trojan scored.

Washington Academy was led by Grace Howard with 13 points. Meadow Rohde had 6 points. The Raiders were 1-3 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 1-0 and will play at Belfast on Tuesday, December 9th at 7 p.m.

Washington Academy is 0-1 and will play at home against GSA on Monday, December 8th at 6:30 p.m.
