MDI Girls Beat Hermon 56-50 [STATS]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team beat the Hermon Hawks 56-50 in Hermon on Tuesday, January 27th.

MDI led 12-11 at the end of the 1st Quarter as Avery Norwood had a pair of 3-pointers while Abbie Bradstreet the Big East Girl's Player of the Week had 7 points, with a 3-pointer for the Hawks.

In the 2nd Quarter with the score tied at 19-19 Hermon went on a 7-0 run, before MDI scored  the final 3 points to make it 26-22 Hawks at the end of the 1st Half. Rebecca Balmas had 10 points for the Hawks.

MDI cut the lead to 1 point at the end of the 3rd Quarter, 38-37. Balmas had 10 more points in the 3rd  for the Hawks, while Avery Norwood had 5 points including a 3-pointer and Lily Collin had 6 points, with a 3-pointer and going 3-4 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter the Trojans held Balmas to 2 points while Avery Norwood had 9 points including a 3-pointer, Ella Watson had 3 points and Lily Norwood sank 2 crucial free throws with just seconds left, to increase MDI's lead to 6 points.

Avery Norwood had 20 points to lead MDI with 4 3-pointers. Lily Collin had 10 points with a 3-pointer. Lilli Hanf had 8 poitns and Lily Norwood had a 3-pointer. Cassidy Dunbar had a season-high 7 points. The Trojans were 8-10 from the free throw line.

Rebecca Balmas had a game-high 22 points. Lila Ryan had 11 points with a 3-pointer. Abbie Bradstreet had 9 points. The Hawks were 8-10 from the free throw line

Hermon is now 9-7. They host Presque Isle on Saturday, January 31st and then finish the regular season at John Bapst at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3rd.

MDI is now 11-5. They host John Bapst on Saturday, January 31st and end the regular season at Ellsworth on Tuesday, February 3rd. That game tips off at 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 6:40 p.m.
