MDI Girls Basketball Team Tames Foxcroft Ponies 45-38

The MDI Girls Basketball Team traveled to Dover-Foxcroft on Friday, December 13th, coming away with a hard fought 45-38 win.

Foxcroft Academy jumped out to a 13-8 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Meghan Spooner had 5 points for the Ponies, while Destiny Weymouth had 4 points and Cassidy Marsh and Kiya Cook each had 2 points. For MDI Leah Carroll had 3 points and Elizabeth Jones had 2 points while Rachelle Swanson was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI outscored Foxcroft 15-8 in the 2nd Quarter to tie the score at 21-21 all. Olivia Gray had 7 points including a pointer, while Jones had 6 points, and Swanson 5 points. For the Ponies Cook had 4 points, and Marsh and Karis Dankert each had 2 points.

MDI finally took the lead for the 1st time in the game with 6:46 left in the 3rd Quarter but it was back and forth, with MDI leading 32-31 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Jones and Gray had 4 points each for MDI, Swanson chipped in 2 and Leah Carroll was 1-2 from the free throw line. For the Ponies Dankert had 4 points while Spooner, Annnie Raynes and Natalie Robinson each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter MDI was 7-13 from the free throw line, hitting enough foul shots to win the game. Gray had 4 points, Elena Alderman 3 points, Leah Carroll 3 points and Rachelle Swanson 3 points for MDI. For Foxcroft Academy Raynes had 5 points and Marsh 2 points.

MDI was led by Olivia Gray with a game high 15 points. Rachelle Swanson and Elizabeth Jones each had 10 points. The Trojans finished 16-28 from the free throw line.

Foxcroft Academy was led by Meghan Spooner and Annie Raynes with 7 points each. The Ponies were 6-12 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 2-1 on the season, and will play host to Washington Academy on Tuesday, December 17th at 7 p.m.

Foxcroft Academy 0-3 plays host to John Bapst on Tuesday, December 17th at 7 p.m.
