MDI Girls Basketball Team Holds Off Stubborn Washington Academy 44-31 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Girls Basketball Team held off a stubborn Washington Academy Team, before pulling away in the 4th Quarter, outscoring the Raiders 17-9 for a 44-31 victory at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, December 18th.

MDI led at the end of the 1st Quarter 9-6, but the score was 15-14 at the end of the 1st Half. MDI outscored Washington Academy 12-8 in the 3rd Quarter 27-22 .

MDI was led by Leah Carroll with 20 points. Carroll had 2 3-pointers and was 2-2 from the free throw line. She pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double! Elizabeth Jones had 11 points shooting 5-9 from the field and 1-1 from the free throw line. MDI as a team was 5-11 from the free throw line

Washington Academy was led by Raeanah Reynolds with 18 points. She had 2 3-pointers. Gabby Morang had 5 points.The Raiders were 7-18 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 3-1 and will play at Orono on Thursday, December 19th at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Washington Academy is 1-2 and will play host to Presque Isle on Saturday, December 21st at 1:30 p.m.
