MDI Girls Basketball Tames Huskies 58-43

The MDI Girls Basketball Team held the MCI Huskies scoreless in the 2nd Quarter, en route to a 58-43 victory on Saturday afternoon, December 21st at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor.

The 1st Quarter was up and down with the Trojans up top 19-14. Leah Carroll had 5 points for MDI, while Rachelle Swanson had 4 points. Elena Alderman and Olivia Gray each sank a 3-pointer while Elizabeth Jones had 2 points. For MCI, Leah Bussell had 6 points, Jillian Frost 4 points and Natalie Sites and Hannah Robinson 2 points each.

In the 2nd Quater MDI outscored MCI 22-0 to take a 41-14 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Jones had 9 points for MDI, Gray 4 points and Elena Alderman and Emily Carter each had a 3-pointer. Rachelle Swanson also had 3 points.

MDI led at the end of the 3rd Quarter MDI was up 52-23. Carroll had 4 points for MDI, Jones 3 points and Alderman and Carter each added 2 points. For MCI Danielle Dow had 4 points, Sara Linkletter a 3-pointer and Robinson 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, MDI played their reserves for the majority of the Quarter. Alderman had 4 points and Grace Witham 3 points for MDI. For MCI Dow had 7 points with a 3-pointer, Robinson 6 points going 4-4 from the free throw line. Sites had 4 points and Frost a 3-pointer.

MDI was led by Elizabeth Jones with a game high 14 points, while Elena Alderman had 12 points. MDI was 6-12 from the free throw line.

MCI was led by Danielle Dow with 11 points while Hannah Robinson had 10 points. The Huskies were 8-14 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 5-1 and off until December 27th when they head up to Aroostook County to play the Presque Isle Wildcats on Friday, December 27th at 5 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

MCI is 2-3 and will play host to Lee Academy on Monday, December 23rd at 1 p.m.
