MDI Boys Stunned By Presque Isle 59-43 [Box Score/Stats/Recap/Photos]

The MDI Boys were comfortably in control, up by 15 points 34-19 at the end of the 1st Half in Presque Isle on Thursday, December 28th, but the Presque Isle Wildcats outscored MDI 34-15 in the 2nd Half to stun the Trojans 53-49. The loss dropped the MDI Boys from the ranks of the unbeaten.

MDI was up 19-8 in the 1st Quarter. Drew Shea and Derek Collin had 6 points each, Andrew Phelps had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Owen Mild had 2 points. For Presque Isle Griffin Guerrette had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Jonah Hudson had a 3-pointer.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Presque Isle 15-11 to take a 34-19 lead at the end of the 1st Half. For the Trojans, Mild, Eli Parady, Shea, Collin, Colby Lee, Finn McConomy and Phelps each had 2 points and Alden Fournier was 1-2 from the free throw line. For Presque Isle, Guerrette had 4 points, Caleb Wheaton and Hudson each had a 3-pointer and Jason Dumais was 1-2 from the free throw line.

The momentum started to turn in the 3rd Quarter, as Presque Isle outscored MDI 18-6, to cut MDI's lead to 3 points 40-37. Presque Isle went 8-8 from the free throw line in the 3rd Quarter. Guerrette and Wheaton each had 5 points, each with a 3 pointer,  and Dumais and Hudson each had 4 points. For MDI Drew Shea had 4 points and Derek Collin had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Guerrette scored 10 points for Presque Isle with a 3-pointer, Hudson had 4 points and Trace Cyr 2 points. For MDI Finn McConomy had 7 points and Phelps 2 points. In the 2nd half, MDI had only 2 field goals.

MDI was led by Drew Shea with 12 points, Derek Collin had 10 points and Andrew Phelps and Finn McConomy each had 9 points. MDI was 12-15 from the free throw line.

Presque Isle was led by Griffin Guerrette with a game high 24 points, while Jonah Hudson had 14 points.

MDI is now 5-1 and is off until Saturday January 6th when they will play host to Oceanside at 5 PM with the pregame starting at 4:45 PM. That game will be broadcast on on AM 1370 WDEA, WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.

Presque Isle, now 4-1 will play at Hermon on Saturday, December 30th at 4:30 PM.
