MDI Boys Fall to Hermon 46-43 [STATS/RECAP]

The MDI Boys Basketball Team fell to the Hermon Hawks 46-43 as the Hawks hit enough free throws in the 4th Quarter, going 8-16, in Bar Harbor on Tuesday, February 23rd.

Hermon jumped out to a 13-9 lead in the 1st Quarter. Brady Reed hit 2 3-pointers for 6 points, Jaykob Dow had 4 points and Jaeden Henderson had 3 points. For MDI Spencer Laurendeau had a 3-ppointer, Porter Isaacs 2 points and Walker St. Germain was 2-2 from the free throw line. Maddox Laurendeau and Charlie Parker were each 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter Hermon outscored MDI 14-7 to increase their lead to 27-18 at the end of the 1st Half. Trey Brown had 4 points for Hermon while Brady Reed and Jaeden Henderson each had a 3-pointer. Eli Reed and Jaykob Dow each added 2 points. For the Trojans Porter Isaacs had 4 points, Grady Wellman-Webster had a 3-pointer and Brady Renault had 2 points.

In the 3rd Quarter MDI cut the lead, outscoring Hermon 10-7, but the Hawks still led 34-28. Renault had 4 points for MDI, Wellman-Webster 2 points and Charlie Parker and Porter Isaacs each were 2-2 from the free throw line.  For Hermon Henderson had another 3-pointer and Trey Brown had 2 points with Eli Reed going 2-2 from the free throw line.

In the 4th Quarter MDI was able to pound the rock into Porter Isaacs in the paint and he score 8 points. Brady Renault had a 3-pointer, Henry Lester was 1-2 from the free throw line and Ethan Merchant hit a 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded. For Hermon Wyatt Gogan had 5 points. Brady Reed 5 points, going 5-6 from the free throw line and Trey Brown was 2-2 from the charity stripe.

MDI was led by Porter Isaacs with 16 points and Brady Renault had 9 points. MDI was 9-15 from the free throw line. It was the final home regular season game for seniors Brady Renault, Ethan Merchant, Grady Wellman-Webster, Maddox Laurendeau and Porter Isaacs.

Hermon was led by Brady Reed with 14 points while Jaeden Henderson had 9 points. The Hawks were 11-21 from the free throw line.

MDI closes out the regular season on Friday night, February 26th when they play at Ellsworth against the Eagles with tip-off at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device. That game will also be live-streamed on the Ellsworth High School You Tube Channel.
