MDI Boys Fall to Foxcroft Academy 35-31 [STATS]

The MDI Boy's Basketball Team's hopes for a home prelim game took a serious blow with their 35-31 loss to the Foxcroft Academy Ponies in Dover-Foxcroft on Tuesday, January 30th.

MDI led 9-7 at the end of the 1st Quarter and 18-15 at the end of the 1st Half. The Ponies sank 4 3-pointers in the 3rd Quarter to take a 30-22 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Playing with a 8-point lead to start the 4th, Foxcroft Academy went into a 4-corner stall for the majority of the Quarter, content to just rag time, and daring MDI to foul them. The Trojans, in foul trouble most of the night, did foul, but the Ponies made just enough free throws, going 5-16 from the foul line in the 4th Quarter and only 7-26 from the foul line on the night.

MDI was led by Cal Hodgdon with 14 points including 2 3-pointers. James Witham had 8 points. Jarron Biekert had a 3-pointer for MDI. The Trojans were just 2-4 from the free throw line.

Foxcroft Academy was led by Ashton Ade with 11 points, including 3 3-pointers. Jadon Richard had 8 points. Shane Birungi had a 3-pointer.

Foxcroft Academy is now 8-8 on the season. They will host Central on Thursday, February 1st at 7 p.m.

MDI, now 7-9 on the season, travels to Washington Academy on Thursday, February 1st to play the Raiders at 6:30 p.m. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our FREE downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device.
