MDI Boys Cruise Past Crusaders 77-35 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Boys Basketball Team cruised past the John Bapst Crusaders 77-35 on Saturday, December 22nd in Bar Harbor, behind a career high 38 points of Derek Collin.

The Trojans jumped out to a 18-13 lead in the 1st Quartre. Derek Collin had 10 points, Drew Shea 6 points and Brett Duley 2 points for the Trojans. Alec Gagnon had 2 3's for 6 points, Ethan Newcomb had 4 points, Rhett McDonald 2 points and Sam Peterson was 1-2 from the free throw line.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored John Bapst 20-4 to take a 38-17 lead at the end of the 1st Half. Collin had another 10 points, with 2 3's. Eli Parady had 6 points and Shea 4 points. Cayman Zephir and Ethan Newcomb had 2 points each for the Crusaders.

In the 3rd Quarter, MDI outscored John Bapst 17-11 to take a 55-28 lead at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Collin had 13 points for MDI with 2 3's and Erik Merchant and Parady each had 2 points for the Trojans. For the Crusaders, Nick Marvin had 5 points with a 3-pointer, and Peterson and McDonald each had 2 points.

In the 4th Quarter, Collin had 5 points, Ethan Merchant 4 points and Brady Renault, Erik Merchant and Charlie Parker each had a 3-pointer and Brennan Hubbard had 2 points for the Trojans.  For John Bapst Zephir had 3 points and Noah Dube and Sam Ellis each had 2 points.

MDI was led by Derek Collin with 38 points while Drew Shea had 10 points. The Trojans were 3-5 from the free throw line.

John Bapst was led by Alec Gagnon and Ethan Newcombe with 6 points each. The Crusaders were 2-8 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 4-1 on the season and will play host to Caribou on Thursday, December 27th at 7:30 PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device

John Bapst is 3-2 and travels to Washington Academy on Thursday, December 27th.
