MDI Boys Beat Old Town 72-66 [PHOTOS]

The MDI Boys Basketball Team beat the Old Town Coyotes Saturday afternoon, December 8th 72-66 at Bernard Parady Gymnasium in Bar Harbor in the opening game of the 2018-19 season.

MDI took a 20-15 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. Derek Collin had 6 points, Brett Duley had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Drew Shea 3 points, and Erik Merchant, Eli Parady and Porter Isaacs each chipped in 2 points for MDI. For Old Town Dom Mitchell had 11 of the Coyote's points, while Mike Brown and Chris Albert had 2 points each.

In the 2nd Quarter MDI outscored Old Town 19-15 to take a 39-30 lead at the end of the 1st Half. For MDI Cadin Lunt had 7 points including a 3-pointer. Shea had 6 points, Brett Duley had a 3-pointer and Parady 3 points. For Old Town Mitchell had 6 points, Shawn Hoogterp had 4 points including a 3-pointer, Albert had 4 points and Jacob Cyr was 1-2 from the free throw line.

MDI added to their lead in the 3rd Quarter, outscoring Old Town 17-14 to take a 56-44 lead. Derek Collin had 11 points for MDI, Merchant added 4 points and Duley 2 points for the Trojans. Old Town's Colby Archer had 6 points with 2 3-pointers. Dom Mitchell had 4 points, and Hoogterp and Cyr had 2 points each.

In the 4th Quarter, Old Town outscored MDI 22-16. Hoogterp had 6 points including a 3-pointer. Cyr had 6 points, Mitchell had 5 points, Albert had a 3-pointer and Brown had 2 points for the Coyotes. For MDI Merchant had 5 points including a 3-pointer, Parady had 5 points. Collin added 4 points and Shea was 2-2 from the free throw line.

MDI had 5 players in double figures. Derek Collin had 21 points, Erik Merchant and Drew Shea 11 points each and Brett Duley and Eli Parady had 10 points each. The Trojans were 20-25 from the free throw line.

Old Town was led by Dom Mitchell with a game high26 points. Shawn Hoogterp had 12 points. Old Town was 11-20 from the free throw line.

MDI, 1-0 will travel to Dover-Foxcroft to play the Foxcroft Academy Ponies on Tuesday, December 11th at 7PM in a game that will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device

Old Town, 0-1 will play Ellsworth at home on Tuesday, December 11th at 7PM.
