MDI Boys Beat John Bapst 68-50 [STATS]
The MDI Boys Basketball Team beat the John Bapst Crusaders 68-50 at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor on Friday night, December 15th, despite John Bapst draining 10 3-pointers.
The Crusaders are a "strange team", they sank 5 3's in the 1st and 3rd Quarter, but didn't score a basket until there was 1:08 left in the 2nd Quarter.
John Bapst led 15-13 at the end of the 1st Quarter but MDI outscored John Bapst 19-2 in the 2nd Quarter to take a 32-17 lead at the end of the 1st Half. MDI led 53-36 at the end of the 3rd Quarter.
MDI was led by Jameson Weir who was dominant in the paint, finishing with 28 points. Spencer Laurendeau had 10 points. MDI had 3 3-pointers on the night, with Laurendeau draining 2 3's and James Witham the other. MDI was 7-8 from the free throw line.
John Bapst was led by Tyler Wilkinson with 15 points while Elmer Robichaud had 7 points. Wilkinson had 3 3's. Tristen Martin, Sam Bay, Izak Robichaud, Elmer Robichaud, Colby Haggerty, Zach Gaudette and Logun McMahon each had a 3-pointer for the Crusaders. John Bapst was 4-8 from the free throw line.
John Bapst is now 0-3. They will host Orono on Wednesday, December 20th at 7 p.m.
MDI is now 2-1. They will play at Ellsworth on Wednesday, December 20th at 7 p.m. That game will be broadcast on AM 1370 WDEA, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 6:40 p.m.
