MDI Boys Beat Ellsworth 58-38 [PHOTOS]
The MDI Boys Basketball Team beat the Ellsworth Eagles 58-38 in Bar Harbor on Friday, January 11th.
The Trojans jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the 1st Quarter. Derek Collin and Drew Shea scored 6 points each for the Trojans and Erik Merchant chipped in 2 points. For Ellsworth Devin Grindle and Austin Harris each had a 3-pointer and Jackson Curtis had 2 points.
In the 2nd Quarter MDI increased their lead to 16 points, outscoring Ellsworth 16-6 to take a 30-14 lead at the end of the 1st Half. In the 2nd Quarter Collin had 7 points, Kyle Nicholson drained a 3-pointer and Brett Duley, Eli Parady and Steven Pierce each had 2 points. For Ellsworth Jackson Curtis had 4 points and Hunter Curtis 2 points.
In the 3rd Quarter Ellsworth rebounded, cutting the lead to 5 points at one point, as the Eagles outscored MDI 20-12 to cut MDI's lead to 8 points as the buzzer sounded to end the 3rd Quarter 42-38. For Ellsworth Hunter Curtis had 8 points, and the 3's started to drop as Grindle, Connor Crawford and Darby Barry each had a 3-pointer, while Jackson Curtis had 3 points after scoring a basket and making the free throw after he was fouled. For MDI Duley, Collin, She, Parady, Pierce and Porter Isaacs each had 2 points.
The 4th Quarter belonged to MDI, as they outscored Ellsworth 16-4. Parady had 8 points, all inside the paint for Ellsworth, Duley had 5 points with a 3-pointer and Pierce hit a 3-pointer. Ellsworth's points came from Austin Harris.
MDI was led by Derek Collin with a game high 15 points. Eli Parady had 12 points. The Trojans were 7-9 from the free throw line. Ellsworth was led by Hunter Curtis with 10 points and Jackson Curtis with 9 points. The Eagles were 3-8 from the free throw line.
