MDI Boys Beat Belfast 75-55 [STATS]

The MDI Boy's Basketball Team broke open a 13-13 tie at the end of the 1st Quarter, going on a 17-0 run, to beat the Belfast Lions 77-55 in Belfast on Friday, January 9th.

MDI didn't allow Belfast to score until there was 3:32 left to play in the 2nd Quarter, after the 13-13 tie. MDI outscored Belfast 26-6 in the 2nd Quarter to lead 39-19 at the Half. MDI led 53-38 at the end of the 3rd Quarter. Belfast battled but couldn't cut the lead below 10 in the 4th Quarter.

MDI was led by James Witham with 34 points, including 3 3-pointers and he went 9-11 from the free throw line. Kenneth Stillwell had 24 points, including a 3-pointer and had 8 points in the 4th Quarter. MDI was 13-18 from the free throw line.

Belfast was led by Trevin Ripley who had 17 points with 2 3-pointers. Landon Economy had 11 points with 3 3's. Phillip Bassett had 10 points. Luke Littlefield and Noah Deetjjen each had a 3-pointer.. Belfast was 6-11 from the free throw line.

MDI is now 9-1. They will host Ellsworth who is 9-2 on Tuesday, January 13th at 7 p.m. in Bar Harbor. That game will be broadcast on WDEA AM 1370, on WDEA Internet Radio, on our free downloadable APP and on any Alexa enabled device with the pregame starting at 6:40 p.m.

Belfast is now 5-5 and hosts Oceanside on Saturday, January 10th at 2:30 p.m.
