The MDI Torjan's Baseball Team started off the 2017 Season with a 4-0 shutout over the Bucksport Golden Bucks on a cold, raw day in Bar Harbor on Friday, April 21st. The game was originally scheduled to have been played on Thursday but was postponed a day due to weather.

Seth Clark pitched a complete game for MDI, striking out 13 and allowing 2 hits and walked 2.

Nick Stanley scored MDI's first run in the 1st inning, after reaching base on an error on the Bucksport shortstop. He scored  on Jacob Mitchell's base hit.

MDI added 3 more runs in the 2nd inning. James McConomy reached on an error, stole 2nd and then scored on Mac Shea's single. Shea would scored on Stanley Grierson's single and after Grierson stole 2nd base, Riley Swanson singled in Grierson. MDI led 4-0 at the end of 3 innings.

MDI added an insurance run in the bottom of the 4th inning. With 1 out Nick Stanley reached on a walk, and advanced to 2nd on a fielder's choice by Riley Swanson. Stanley scored on Jacob Mitchell's 2nd single of the game.

Matt Perconti stroked a double for the Trojans in the bottom of the 5th inning with 2 out, but was stranded at 2nd.

Chase Carmichael and Cameron Grindle had Bucksport's 2 singles.

MDI is 1-0 on the season and are supposed to play at Foxcroft Academy on Saturday, April 22nd at 12 noon and then play host to Ellsworth on Tuesday, April 25th at 4:30 PM.

It was Coach Andy Pooler's 1st career victory for the MDI Trojan's Baseball Team.

Bucksport is 1-1 on the season and will play host to Dexter on Saturday, April 22nd at 4:30, a time change from the originally scheduled time of 11 AM.
