MDI High School’s James Witham Scores 1000th Point [PHOTOS]

Congratulations to MDI High School's James Witham who scored his 1000th career point on Saturday afternoon, January 24th as the Trojans hosted the Presque Isle Wildcards.

Witham, a junior, entered the game needing 28 points.

He started slowly scoring a pair of free throws in the 1st Quarter and had 7 points in the 2nd Quarter including a 3-pointer. He was 19 points away from 1000.

In the 3rd quarter he scored 4 points, and was 15 points away from 1000.

In the 4th Quarter, Witham scored 15 points. He had a pair of 3's, and with about 2 minutes left to play, Witham was 3 points away.

His teammates, aware of how many points he needed, kept feeding him the ball, and setting screens. Witham attempted 3 after 3 but couldn't sink the history-making shot.

He finally made a 2-pointer, and was 1 point away. With 50.6 remaining, Witham was fouled, and sank the 1st of 2 free throws to reach the 1000 point milestone.

Witham is just the 3rd male of the 1000th point club at MDI High School and the 1st 1000th point scorer since Kelsey Shaw did it in 2016.
