
MDI Baseball Upset by Gardiner 4-1 in Quarterfinals
The MDI Trojans Baseball Season came to an abrupt end in Bar Harbor on Thursday, June 7th, as they were upset by the Gardiner Tigers 4-1 in the Class B North Quarterfinals.
MDI took the lead scoring 1 run in the bottom of the 2nd inning, but Gardiner scored 3 in the top of the 3rd and added an insurance run in the top of the 7th for the win.
Alden Fournier pitched a complete game for MDI. He allowed 8 hits, and 4 runs, although only 2 were earned. He struck out 4 and walked 5.
Logan Porter was the winning pitcher for the Tigers. He allowed 5 hits, striking out 1 and walking 1.
For MDI Alden Fournier, Jacob Mitchell, Nick Stanley, Sam Keblinskey and Andrew Kennedy all had a single. Fournier and Liam Sullivan each had a stolen base.
For Gardiner, Logan Porter was 2-3 and Cole Lawrence was 2-4. Casey Bourque, Garrett Lunt, Chandler Moran and Cameron Bourassa all had a single. Porter swiped 2 bases and Alic Shorey had a stolen base.
MDI's season ends with a 12-6 record. It was the last game for Seniors Alden Fournier, Stanley Grierson, Andrew Kennedy, Finn McConomy, Jacob Mitchell, Matt Perconti and Nick Stanley.
Gardiner, now 14-4 will play at number 2 seed Brewer on Saturday in the semifinals
