MDI Baseball Tops John Bapst 6-2
The MDI Trojans topped the John Bapst Crusaders 6-2 in Bar Harbor on a windy afternoon, Tuesday, May 25th.
MDI scored 1st to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. After John Bapst scored a run in the 2nd and 3rd innings, MDI put up 4 runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning and then added an insurance run in the 4th inning.
Sam Mitchell pitched a complete game for the Trojans, throwing 7 innings and scattering 8 hits. He struck out 3 and only walked a batter.
Connor Young pitched for John Bapst and went 5.0 innings allowing 8 hits and 6 runs, although just 2 were earned. He struck out 8 and walked 1. Caleb Robbins pitched the 6th inning allowing 2 hits while striking out 1 and walking 1
Logan Beckwith, Porter Isaacs and Aidan Grant all had 2 hits for the Trojans. Beckwith had a double.
Jay Haney had a double. Brady Renault, Grady Wellman-Webster, and Sam Mitchell all singled for MDI.
Brady Renault swiped 2 bases and Porter Isaacs stole a base. Logan Beckwith was gunned down trying to steal.
For John Bapst Jack Mason had a pair of doubles. Connor Young and Tyler Sawyer each had 2 singles. Allen Wheaton and Peter Schuck singled for the Crusaders.
MDI is now 9-5 and are currently in 3rd place in the Class B North Heal Points. The Trojans have 2 games remaining in the regular season. They play Brewer at home on Saturday, May 29th at 11 a.m. and then close out the regular season at Ellsworth on Tuesday, June 1st at 4:30 p.m.
John Bapst is 4-9 with 3 games remaining. They play host to Hermon on Wednesday, May 26th, play host to Ellsworth on Friday May 28th at 4:30 p.m. and then close out the regular season at home against Foxcroft Academy on Tuesday, June 1st.
