MDI Boys Baseball Team Sweeps Presque Isle Wildcats

The MDI Boys Baseball Team swept the Presque Isle Wildcats on Saturday, May 2nd winning game 1 by a score of 3-0 and game 2 by a score of 5-1.

In game 1 Spencer Grierson threw the shutout for the Trojans, limiting the Wildcats to just 5 hits. Grierson struck out 4 and walked 1.

Lane Carmichael took the loss for the Wildcats. He pitched the complete game allowing 8 hits and 3 runs, striking out 1 and walking 4.

Preston Tripp was 2-4 with a run batted in for the Trojans. Alex Roos was 1-2 with a run batted in Cameron Graham was 1-3 with a run batted in. Grierson was 1-3 with a double. Colin Sullivan, Ben Ingram and Eli MacDonnell each had a single.

Sullivan swiped 2 bases and Tripp also had a stolen base for MDI.

Carter Vigue leading off was 2-4 for the Wildcats. Kason Bua, Brandon Porter and Oliver Woollard each had a single

Bua had 2 stolen bases and Vigue and A. Wood each had a stolen base.

In game 2 Colin Sullivan struck out 14 while just allowing 1 hit and 1 run while walking 4 for the win for the Trojans. Sullivan pitched 6.2 innings. Allister Frongillo retired the final out, allowing 1 hit.

Kason Bua started on the hill for the Wildcats and he went 2.1 innings allowing 3 hits and 5 runs, walking 1. Trenten Mastro closed out the game, pitching the final 3.2 innings, scattering 3 hits and striking out 1.

Sullivan helped himself at the plate. Leading off he was 2-4 with a double, and run batted in Stephen Grierson, batting 9th was 2-3 with a double and run batted in. Preston Tripp and Allister Frongillo each had a single, with Frongillo driving in a run

Cameron Graham, Sullivan and Tripp each had a stolen base.

Evan Ellis and Lane Carmichael each had a single for the Wildcats.

MDI is now 3-2. They will play at John Bapst on Tuesday, May 5th at 7 p.m.

Presque Isle is 0-4. They will play host to Fort Kent on Tuesday, May 5th at 4:30 p.m.
