The MDI Baseball Team took the long drive up I-95 on Saturday morning, May 16th, coming home with a doubleheader sweep over the Caribou Vikings, winning 16-0 and 10-0.

In game 1, Preston Tripp and Garrett Umphrey combined to 2-hit the Vikings. Tripp pitched 4.0 innings, allowing 1 hit and striking out 10. He didn't walk a batter. Umphrey pitched the 5th, allowing a hit.

Colin Sullivan, Eli MacDonnell and Preston Tripp all homered for the Trojans.

Tripp was 3-4 driving in 4 runs. Sullivan had a double and the homer and drove in 2 runs. Cameron Graham had a single. Ben Ingram was 2-3 with a run batted in. Mason Lapointe was 1-3 with a run batted in. Umphrey was 2-4 with a pair of runs driven in.

MDI ran wild on the basepaths with 11 stolen bases. Alister Frongillo, Ingram, Graham, Lapointe and Tripp each had 2 stolen bases with Sullivan stealing with 1 bag.

In game 2 3 MDI pitchers combined to no-hit the Vikings. Tripp started and went 2.0 inning, striking out 2 and walking 2. Frongillo went 2.0 innings striking out 1 and walking 2 and Brycen Chipmen pitched the 5th inning, striking out the side.

Colin Sullivan hit his 2nd homer of the day, a 2-run homer. Spencer Grierson was 3-3. Frongillo was 3-3 with a double and drove in 4 runs. Eli MacDonnell and Owen Dwyer each had a single.

MDI stole 3 bases in Game 2. Tripp swiped 2 bases and Charlie Ricardo and Colin Sullivan each had a stolen base.

MDI is now 6-4. They will host the Old Town Coyotes on Wednesday, May 20th at 4:30 p.m.

Caribou is 3-5. The Vikings will travel to Ellsworth for a doubleheader on Monday, May 18th with games at 3 and 5 p.m.
