MDI Baseball Team Falls Short Against Foxcroft Academy

The MDI Baseball Team's comeback against Foxcroft Academy came up a little short on Tuesday, April 28th as they lost to the Ponies 6-5 in Bar Harbor.

MDI led 2-0 at the end of the 1st inning, but Foxcroft Academy scored 6 runs in the top of the 2nd. MDI scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning, but it wasn't enought.

Spencer Grierson started on the mound and went 4.0 innings. He allowed 11 hits and 6 runs, 1 of which was earned. He struck out 6 and walked 2. Alister Frongillo closed out the game for MDI, pitching the final 3 innings, allowing just 1 hit, and striking out 1.

Preston Tripp had 2 of MDI's 5 hits, driving in a run. Colin Sullivan, Garrett Umphrey and Spencer Grierson each had a single

Evan Seavey picked up the win for the Ponies. He pitched 5.0 innings allowing 4 hits and 5 runs, striking out 8 and walking 1. Michael Kinney earned the save pitching the final 2 innings allowing 1 hit and striking out 1.

Thomas Day was 3-4 at the plate for the Ponies with a double and triple, driving in 3 runs. Kinney was 2-4. Brody Arcaro was 2-4 and Jaedon Haack was 2-3. Griffin Caruso, Owen White and Ryan McGary each singled.

MDI is 0-2. The Trojans will travel to Old Town on Wednesday April 29th to take on the Coyotes at 4:30 p.m.

Foxcroft Academy is 1-3. They will travel up to Caribou to play the Vikings in a doubleheader on Saturday, May 2nd.
