March 18th Is a Good Day for Lax Player Shelby O’Neil

March 18th is a very good day for former MDI Trojan Shelby O'Neil! A year ago on March 18, 2017 In only her 2nd collegiate lacrosse game, O'Neil scored 5 goals, and assisted on another, as the Lady Mariners rolled over Lyndon State 20-7. This year on March 18, 2018, O'Neil scored a career high 6 goals!

Shelby, now a senior at Maine Maritime Academy added six draw controls, four ground balls, two caused turnovers and an assist to go with her six goals.

The Mariners beat Becker College 12-0 on Sunday, the 18th. The Mariners improve to 1-1 on the season after recording their first-ever shutout victory, while Becker falls to 0-2 on the season. Maine Maritime returns to action next Saturday, March 24 when they host New England College for their North Atlantic Conference (NAC) opener at 4:00 pm.
