We have to admit it, we got a little emotional this past Wednesday, National Nurses Day, while watching video of F-15 fighter jets from the Massachusetts National Guard fly over the city of Boston, saluting essential healthcare workers there.

Now, it's going to happen here in Maine as well.

"Operation American Resolve, saluting Maine's front-line workers" will take place this Tuesday, May 12th during the mid-day hours.

A KC-135 aircraft from the 101st Air Refueling Wing in Bangor will "conduct" the flyover, which will stretch from the town of Farmington to Downeast and then to Bangor.  The original schedule includes northern Maine points, but was changed Tuesday morning because of the weather.

Today's updated route and approximate times are as follows:

Farmington – 10:30
Androscoggin Mill / Jay – 10:33
Central Maine Medical Center – 10:40
Scarborough Veterans Home – 10:58
Maine Medical Center – 10:59
Bath Iron Works – 11:06
Togus VA Medical Center – 11:13
Augusta / Maine General – 11:14
Belfast – 11:25
Ellsworth – 11:35
Mount Desert Island – 11:45
Bangor Veterans Home – 12:58
Eastern Maine Medical Center – 12:59
St. Joseph's Hospital – 1:00

The entire Maine National Guard is honored to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the healthcare workers and first responders who are working on the front lines to combat COVID-19. We are also deeply grateful for those essential personnel diligently working to keep our shelves stocked and families supplied,” said Maj. Gen. Douglas Farnham, Maine’s adjutant general.
