Looking Back to Past April Fools Day Snowstorms in Maine [VIDEO]
As we brace for more snow this weekend I was thinking to past April Fools Day storms that Mother Nature has dumped on us and I came across Rich Peterson's YouTube video of the snow storm from 2011. It was a Friday and the snow had been falling since early morning. Mainers woke up to wet, heavy snow blanketing the state, breaking tree limbs and bringing down power lines to almost 23,000 homes and businesses in southern Maine.
Earlier than that, in 1997 we had an all out blizzard on April Fools day that dumped a significant amount of snow on Maine. Logan airport in Boston reported 24.5 inches of snow with 50-70mph wind gusts.
This storm is nothing new to Mainers, just an inconvenience.
