King No-Hits MDI as Ellsworth Beats the Trojans 2-0 in Regular Season Finale
Brayden King threw a no-hitter as the Ellsworth Eagles beat the MDI Trojans 2-0 in Bar Harbor on Wednesday, May 29th, the final regular season game for both squads.
King struck out 9 and walked 2 over the 7 innings.
Jay Haney, took the tough-luck loss for MDI. The senior went 6.0 innings allowing 2 hits and 1 run, striking out 10 and walking 3. Preston Tripp pitched the 7th, allowing 2 hits and 1 run.
Kyle Kenny, Jackson Barry, King and Luke Horne each singled for the Eagles.
Dawson Curtis, and Kyle Kenny each had a stole base for Ellsworth.
It was the final regular season game for seniors Jay Haney, Nick Jacobs, Matthew Levesque, Jacob Shields and Joey Wellman-Clouse.
Ellsworth finishes the regular season with a 15-1 record and will finish 1st in the Class B North Heal Point Standings.
MDI finishes the regular season with a 9-7 record and will likely finish 5th in the Class B North Heal Point Standings.
Both teams will make the playoffs.
