July 17 – Peach Ice Cream Day

It's funny how food can bring back memories! Today, July 17th is National Peach Ice Cream Day, and I immediately thought of my mother's father, my grandfather, Fred Hengesch. He loved peach ice cream, to be exact Friendly's Peach Ice Cream!

He used to eat it every day! You see, everyday that he went to work, he would eat at Friendly's, and would have a hamburger, and then a cup of peach ice cream. I remember there was also always peach ice cream in the freezer in my grandparent's house.

So, today, I'm going to have a cup of peach ice cream, and I'm going to think of you Poppy! Not only am I having a cup of peach ice cream tonight, I'm planning on having a peach milkshake from Chick-Fil-A for lunch. Elmer and Pebbles will have to go for a car ride so they can get some nuggets. They missed their car ride on Sunday because of the torrential rain!
