Jonesport-Beals High School Announces Honor Parts

The faculty and administration of Jonesport-Beals High School have announced the class parts for the 2023-24 school year.

Jonesport-Beals will be celebrating graduation on Sunday, June 2nd at 1 p.m.

Valedictorian is Mackenzie Urban, daughter of Lori and Richard Urban of Jonesport. Mackenzie is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the honor roll, achieving high honors every quarter since entering Jonesport-Beals High School. She has been voted president of her class this year. As a school leader and student of good character, Mackenzie has received the Maine Principal’s Award. She has received two Early College Pathways Certificates from the University of Maine at Machias, Exploring Psychology and General Education Jumpstart Pathways. Mackenzie plans to attend the University of Southern Maine, where she will be studying Psychology and Rehabilitation.

Salutatorian is Leah Beal, daughter of Allison and Tony Beal of Beals. Leah is a member of the National Honor Society and has been on the honor roll, achieving high honors every quarter since entering J-BHS. She has been an active student athlete all four years, participating in Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball. Leah has been part of the health occupations education program at CWCIT and a member of the National Technical Honors Society. At the 2024 Skills USA Health Knowledge Bowl, Leah was a Silver Medal recipient. Leah obtained her CNA certification during her junior year. Leah plans to attend the University of Southern Maine, where she is enrolled in the nursing program.

The Class History will be given by Brevan Kenney, son of Kristi Carver-Kenney and Michael Kenney of Beals. The Class Prophecy will be given by Rachel Crowley, daughter of Marni and Craig Crowley of Jonesport. The Class Will will be given by Mary McDonald, daughter of Belinda and Joe McDonald of Jonesport. The Class Gifts will be announced by Kianna Emerson and Mykel Torres. Kianna is the daughter of Rhonda and Larry Emerson on Beals. Mykel is the son of Tammy and Dave Seavey of Beals
