Jarren Duran hit a 3-run inside-the-park home run in the 5th inning to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 5-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates, on Sunday afternoon, August 31st at Fenway Park. The win snapped Boston's 5-game home losing streak and prevented Pittsburgh from sweeping the series.

Duran ran from home-to-home in just 14.71 seconds, the fastest in baseball this year and the fastest by a Red Sox player since the StatCast era (2015). He finished the day 2-2 adding a double.

Nathaniel Lowe was 2-4 and Alex Bregman was 1-3.

Lucas Giolito picked up his 10th win of the season and is 10-2. He went 6.0 innings, allowing just 3 hits. He struck out 6 and walked 5..

Justin Slaten pitched the 7th inning allowing 1 run. Garrett Whitlock pitched the 8th inning, allowing 2 hits, and striking out 2. Aroldis Chapman picked up his 27th save of the season, striking out 2 in the 9th inning.
